Who ever said there were "Lazy Days of Summer"?

Beautiful, juicy and scrumptious sour cherries.

Blueberries ready for picking.  Our U-Pick almost ready.

9 week old Cornish Rock meat chickens.  One hour before "processing".

Automatic tub style chicken plucker.  Sure makes plucking easy!

The next "batch" set out to pasture.  Five more weeks and they will be as large as the ones we just processed.

The life of an old tom cat.  Snowy, resting peacefully on a hot summer's day. At least he knows the "Lazy Days of Summer".
Today's Journey Joys:  Much needed rain, U-Pick invitations almost ready to send, great interest in our fruit, just planted pine berries on raised beds and plastic water-permeable mulch, chess games, cherry cobbler and jelly & farm tour this Sunday!

Weeding, eating & laughing

Flitting from red clover blossom to the next

Enjoying the warmth of juicy sweet strawberries

Time to put the second deep on the new hives!  And time to harvest the spring honey - I got four heavy supers off two hives.

Hot and sweaty and putting equipment away after the honey harvest.

Our first four quarts! Yum!

Climbing roses - oh-so-pretty.

Red poppies

We know who rules the roost.

Summer rains..... too far south.
Today's Journey Joys: Warm, bright sunshine, roosters crowing, broilers fattening up, pea pods swelling, beets purple-red with deep abundant greens, black raspberries forming, the hue of blue beginning on the blueberries, the tangy pineapple & strawberry flavor of pine berries, muscles and joints that heal after long days of weeding and picking.

Melancholy

I shouldn't write when I'm feeling like this.  Emotionally fragile and oscillating between tears, fears, and frustration.  Yet ...
